How do I start using Smart-ID?

In Latvia, you can register for Smart-ID using either an ID card or a passport. It is necessary to download and install the official Smart-ID app on your mobile device, then follow the steps in the app to confirm the identity and complete the registration process.

If you want to use Smart-ID on multiple smart devices you will need to register each device individually for the authentication to work.

Your Smart-ID account is valid for 3 years. Once the expiration date gets close, you will be reminded to renew the account.
