Insurance

What kinds of losses does OCTA cover?

OCTA insurance covers losses caused by a traffic accident:
- to a damaged vehicle (if its driver is recognised not to be at fault);
- to an injured third party if the accident damages their property (building, structure etc.);
- to pedestrians, even if the fault of the driver involved in the accident cannot be proved;
- to the damaged vehicle's driver (injury to their health or life);
- to passengers travelling in the vehicle which caused the accident (injury to their health or life);
If a traffic accident is caused by a vehicle without OCTA insurance, the damages to third parties are covered by the Motor Insurers’ Bureau of Latvia, who will then sue the owner of the at-fault vehicle for all expenses.
