Who is a politically exposed person?

Politically exposed person is a person who holds or has held an important public position in the Republic of Latvia, another Member State or a third country.  

Family member of a politically exposed person is a spouse or equivalent person of a politically exposed person, a child, parent, grandparent, grandchild, brother or sister of a politically exposed person or a spouse or equivalent person of a politically exposed person. 

Person closely related to a politically exposed person is a natural person who is known to have business or other close relations with a politically exposed person, or who is a shareholder or participant in the same legal entity with a politically exposed person, as well as a natural person who is the sole owner of such a legal arrangement that is known to be established in favour of a politically exposed person.
